Orinoco Wireless Lan Pc Card 3.3 Volt Drivers

Hey, for the last couple months my internet has been crap basically. When i try to load pages (most frequently facebook and myspace) they usually never load the first time. I have to refresh sometimes dozens of times before i get any type of page, usually one that is not displayed correctly.
When i can actually get in and poke around on whatever site i happend to be at, I get overwhelmed by all the red x's where pictures are supposed to be. I'll get about 4 or 5 of 25 pictures to load on a single page, and the rest are simply replaced by a small white box with a red x (i think you get the picture...no pun intended).
Edit: Also, when i double click on the flashing computers in the system tray, the number of packets sent is much greater than the number of packets being received. I'm not exactly sure what that means, but hopefully someone else does .
ANYWAYS...any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, my dad has a newer Gateway laptop (currently on now) and its internet usually works flawlessly, so I'm thinking it might be a setting or piece of hardware on my computer.
Here's the laptop/modem/etc. I'm using.
Laptop: Gateway YA1 w/ Windows XP Pro SP 2
Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection
ORiNOCO Wireless LAN PC Card (3.3 volt)
NETGEAR WGT624 IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.11b/g Wireless Firewall Router
Mediacom Digital Cable Modem
Maxthon Web Browser Version 1.5.6 (build 42) Unicode
Thanks again for any advice!
